Using the lyrics to Blackbird by Nina Simone I designed a creative layout that evokes the emotions from the lyrics themselves. I wanted to use an all black and white palette to focus on the beautiful darkness of the song. I used clean bright images paired with dark pages that show the bleakness
of Nina’s situation and the political climate of her time.
