AuCourant

Okay...lets talk all things AuCourant.

I had not heard of AuCourant until my friend, Cahner mentioned she wanted to go for her birthday dinner. I am going to share my experience, what I ate, & overall thoughts.

Things to know

I would recommend making a reservation. This seems like one of those places that won’t have room if you were just a walk-in. They offer a Chef tasting menu or an a-la-cart menu. When you go, your entire table has to decide on one or the other so if you are interested in trying the Chef Tasting Menu then make sure to choose a date or friends who are also down to drop some stacks on dinner :)

What I got / what i spent

I ordered a cocktail called Beet It - which of course had Beets in it - YUM! It was a 9/10 & it was $12 (Pictured above).

Appetizer

Homemade rye cracker, strawberry compote/jam with a fresh strawberry on top. It was a delicious burst of flavor - a great way to start off!

to start

Chovy’s Egg - Tartare/Calabrian Chili/Rõsti
I heard good things about this before dining here. I really hate to say it but this was the only part of the entire experience that didn’t feel elevated/wasn’t good. The hash brown patty was way too salty and just tasted freezer to table.

first course

Crudo - Ponzu/Cucumber/Ginger
This was 10/10, delicious and refreshing. The cucumber was so fresh and crunchy and all the flavors came together so nicely.

second course

Cappellacci - Ricotta/Ham/Nettle
I am not sure if this is obvious but obviously this was the best course.
Its pasta…but seriously it was incredible. So creamy and flavorful,
just perfect. I’ll take three more please!

third course

Asparagus - We opted for this instead of the Bass listed on the Chef Tasting menu. Worth it!! Oh wow, this was good. I believe it had sesame oil on it. All I know is, I crave this now. There was also an element of crunch going on on top and it added a whole other element to this course.

fourth course

Duet - Gratin/Duxelle/Turnip
Beef & Potatoes but make it boujee. You see the block of something in the photo? Yeah that was a potato. Next to that is the turnip - 10/10. We were told the beef was beef cheek which was kinda scary at first but omg..it melted in my mouth and tasted incredible. On the side was duxelle, which apparently is finely chopped mushrooms - freaking delicious as well.

fifth & final course

Chocolate Cremeux - Chocolate Mouse/Shortbread/Berries
OK……….This was ridiculous. An absolute 11/10 on flavor profiles and textures, everything. Homemade shortbread cookies, pistachio crumble, chocolate and strawberries with an incredible whipped cream. It was so perfect, it blew me away. Yum, yum, yummy.
