Anti-Inflammatory Shots

homemade Anti imflammitory shots

Almost all of us are struggling with inflammation and our bodies are trying to tell us something is wrong. I have been struggling with inflammation longer than I knew what it even was. I am starting to learn more about prevention and healing my body through foods and lifestyle. One of the things that comes up over and over again is the combination of Ginger and Turmeric Root. Try this recipe to create a yummy, spicy liquid vitamin of your own!

These shots have a ton of health benefits and nutrients packed into them. They are great for fighting inflammation and helping build your immune system. Ginger and Turmeric are both powerhouses, when you pair them together, you get so many anti-inflammatory benefits - we add Black pepper because it is said to help activate Turmeric. Cayenne pepper helps to improve digestion, control blood sugar, and strengthen immunity. Combine all of these healing properties from nature to help heal your body from the inside-out.

We started making these shots after I got sick this winter. I wanted to reduce my inflammation but also pack my immune system with vitamins and nutrients from foods, not just pill form. While I was sick, I took two a day for a few days and then one a day until we ran out. I am back to normal one week later - feeling so energized and healthy!

tips

Fresh Turmeric and Ginger (but specifically turmeric) can be hard to find at a reg big box grocery store. Depending on where you are located, try a local fresh foods store like Fresh Thyme, Natural Groceries (Omaha), Sprouts, or you could even try Whole Foods.
If you don’t have a juicer, you’ll have to grate the Turmeric and Ginger Root by hand. I would highly recommend investing in a juicer - they have cheaper ones on the market these days that are so easy to use and to clean! It is worth investing in your health.

Recipe

4 Large Organic Lemons
2 Golden Beets
3 Large Knobs Ginger
8 Sticks of Turmeric
2 Tablespoons Apple Cider Vinegar
Pinch of Black Pepper
Pinch of Cayenne Pepper

Yeild

Combine all the ingredients to create beautiful, golden vitamin shots.
We use an electric juicer to help us get the smoothest consistency.
This recipe yields about 20 one ounce shots.

Storage

These can be stored in your fridge for a few days. The fresher the better but for convenience, we definitely push it to its limits.
You can always pour this in an ice cube trey and freeze some to thaw out at a later time!
